I was a brand strategist before AI learned to write one
The tools have changed dramatically since I entered the branding business. The central question has not:
Why does someone choose this brand instead of another?
I have worked on that question with organisations including SONY, HBO and Orange. I have explored it through positioning, communication, storytelling, behavioural economics and game mechanics.
Then AI joined the decision.
It began helping companies produce communication. It started filtering what customers find. Increasingly, it compares options, summarises evidence and recommends what should enter the shortlist.
Google chose me to teach AI in its Skills of Tomorrow programme.
I did not abandon brand strategy for AI. I added AI to a question I had already spent years trying to understand.
